Yet another item from my not-so-recent-trip to Bangkok, the Maybelline Fashion Brow Mascara is one of those things I knew I have to have at the get-go, never mind that I have a hundred products of the same sort. It’s a brow product, it’s Maybelline, and it’s unavailable in Manila..I’m sold!
Maybelline Fashion Brow Mascara, about THB250
This brow mascara comes in a short, thick, plastic tube with a dot showing the mascara color. If I remember right, this product comes in three shades, I got the grayish brown as the others seem too bright for my coloring. Perhaps, the most taking feature of this brow mascara is the brush—a most unusual pole shape, reminiscent of the NARS brow gel, but more aggressive in a way. I never seem to need to use the slender portion as the ball-shaped end deposits and blends the tinted gel efficiently!
Why is that so important for me? One, a short and tightly-packed brush (er, like that of MAC’s Brow Gel) deposits too much gunk directly on the brows and that is such a hassle to take off. Two, a dense brush tends to ruin the brow I’ve drawn/brushed on underneath. The Fashion Brow’s long and rounded bristles get high points there!
In these photos, I used the Shu Uemura Hard 9 Brow Pencil to shape and shade my brows and then used the Maybelline Fashion Brow mascara to slightly tint and set my brows in place. This is my regular brow M.O., how I do my brows on a daily basis-never without a brush of mascara!
The product inside the tube is great too, not too thick and sticky—quite runny actually—so I tend to think of it more as gel but not tinted (like Makeup Factory’s Brow Gel which I like very much too) as it’s pigmented well and with some shimmer particles. The hold is nothing extraordinary but it’s okay enough cause it stays put for most of the time I have it on and I never feel the need to reapply.
I hope Maybelline PH brings this in! I heart this product—affordable, ingenious and effective! I’ve been using this a lot (everyday, actually) since I got it coz it’s just so easy and fool-proof, you don’t need too much skill and time for this extra brow step. If you have a chance to source it abroad (I think it’s called another name elsewhere, like Brow Drama something), get it! I highly recommend.
