Lipstick P/Review: UNE Lip-Toned Color

How are you guys holding up in this stormy weather? We had a bit of a flood scare yesterday, and we’re sitting tight but the rains seem to have abated.

But today’s another day, and let me talk to you about this lipstick from UNE Beauty. It’s not available locally—I actually learned of it from my sister who showed me her own tube the other time she was here, and to which I promptly placed my order (i.e., asked her to bring one home when she gets back in Manila).

UNE Beauty, I believe, is under the French Bourjois cosmetics company. They claim 100% of the total ingredients are from natural origin and 21.8% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. It’s a lovely line of beauty products with emphasis on natural, sustainable ingredients with “colours inspired by the naturally beautiful colouring of the skin, hair, eyes and lips—universal shades that suit all skin tones.”

“A rich & moisturising formula…Shades inspired by the natural colour of lips. 100% natural tomato leaf fragrance.”

I love the idea of keeping everything sincerely natural—and the whole idea of it, from the color selection, the ingredients, down to the scent. It’s hard to come by such things nowadays, I mean, everything now claims to be natural and organic even when it’s just repackaged in green containers/brown cartons.

Anyway. I felt like I under estimated my lip color, and asked my sister to get me shade L02, the lightest in the 8 color selection which are all, by the way, based on the natural pigmentation of the lips. So I feel like I got more of a nude lipstick than an MLBB shade. I ‘m guessing I’m an L03–that would probably give me rosier lips.

And then next I want to talk about the finish, which is a creamy sort of semi-matte, if that makes sense. I mean, it applies creamy to an even, moist layer on the lips which turns powdery right after. I believe the natural formulation of the lipstick gives it this finish (no mineral oils, synthetic dimethicones etc.), and because I love matte lipsticks, this is a win-win for me. Even so, this doesn’t feel dry on the lips, it’s quite comfortable actually. I also don’t know how a tomato leaf smells like, but this has a faint smell that is nothing to be bothered about. Wearing it feels like nothing!

I’ll be sure to ask my sister to get me another shade of this lipstick (maybe a deeper one), and I’m quite curious about the other products as well, specially the cheek and face products! • I’m not so sure how this is priced, but it sure is a nice, well-thought out product. It’s just sad we can’t get them locally!
