Hearts/Farts: Avon Perfect Eyebrow Pencil

I rarely review eyebrow products here on the blog, but I am short of obsessed over my brows. Well, I have a lot of it, and it’s been a constant fixation of mine—how to shape it? thin? thick? trim? pluck? So in line with that, I cannot stop checking out new brow products that would define and redefine my brows. Essential, essential!

This one has been on one too many of Pixiwoo’s videos—naturally, I was intrigued! But then it took some time before Avon Philippines brought this in; I learned that it’s finally here from Project Vanity.

Okay, physical details first: dual ended—pencil on one end, spoolie brush on the other, 1.4grams. I love dual-ended brushes—so convenient, and as far as brows go, you shouldn’t go without a good brush over.

The color perhaps is what makes this pencil special, the dark brown shade isn’t really dark, it’s taupey/ashy without the brassy/reddish tone (hate that!). The texture though is quite soft, and loses its sharpness after a few uses. I personally like harder pencils because you tend to get more precise lines. I also noticed a bit of splotching/solid bits when you draw/drag the line quite hard. However when used with light, feathery strokes, this texture gives a hazy, soft finish to the brows. The first two photos are from when I use the pencil lightly, for a natural brow look:

This is for when I want bold brows, a bit shaped and angular. I build  up the product, brush it in place, draw some more, and brush some more. Believe me, I can be at it forever! Doing my brows take a third of my makeup time, I think!

An Artechoke Hearts/Farts? Hearts! This is real cheap (it was on sale) for a great brow product. The color is a lovely shade of brown, versatile and should work for most, if not all, Filipina coloring. The brush is sturdy and works well in blending and diffusing the pigment. Though I would have loved a harder, more consistent texture, this doesn’t change the fact  that this colors, defines and enhances the brows almost perfectly. Go, get one! I hope it’s still on sale!

  1. I also have an unspoken fixation on my brows. And mine are really thick compare to yours! Haha! Right now I’m using the E.L.F. Brow kit to shape and fill in. I use Sephora tinted brow gel to set. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do with them. I even have the brows tinted to match my hair color. Talk about obsessed!

    • Hi,Phoebe! Wow, thanks for sharing your eyebrow routine! I’m currently on the eyebrow pencil phase, but powders are really great too-I use Face Shop’s. And a MAC brow set. Whew! 🙂
