As I told you in Part 1 of this post, I attended a friend’s wedding over the weekend. The dress code was glam black, with silver and gold accents. To be able to wear black on a wedding was too exciting, but how to make it glam and appropriate?
I already had an idea what to wear, and to keep accessories to a minimum as I was going for a severely minimal look. But what about makeup??
The ceremony was to be at 8am, so I had to be up a wee bit early to do my face—as I’m wont to do! So the game plan was simple—a modern smudged black eyeliner with hints of metallic eye shadow at the inner corner of the eyes. Nothing too exact or graphic, we were really pressed for time!
Given that, excuse the weird blue tinge on the photos–it was really early when I took them.
Prep: Clinique Moisture Surge
Base: Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation in OC-2. MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC25, Sephora Base Sublimatrice Primer
Hair: VO5 Curl Defining Mousse, twisted hair in a bun, secured by Goody Spin Pins. Fix Professional Rock&Rule Matte Sculpting Wax to brush up my bangs.
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, a dusting of the lightest shade from the Christian Dior Incognito 5-Color Palette. I lightly outlined a ‘U’ shape on the outer corner of my eyes using Majolica Majorca’s Creamy Eyeliner in Black, filled in, then smudged with MAC Carbon to blur the edges. I applied a metallic bronze shade on the inner corner of the eyes from the San San Eyeshadow Trio 02 (love—cheapy but very goody, review soon!) slightly blending with the black shadow. To finish, two coats of Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On Mascara.
Eyebrows: In2It Eyebrow Powder, Fasio Eye brow Mascara
Lips and Cheeks: MAC Subculture Lip Liner, MAC Plumful, Maybelline Color Sensational Cream Gloss in Coffee Kiss, MUFE HD Cheek in #6, Sleek Face Contour Kit in Light
Powder: Maybelline Face Powder in Natural on the T-zone using a fluffy brush
Anyway, this was taken before the ceremony, in better lighting.
Halfway through the event, like I said in the previous post, I switched to red lipstick. I felt that the all that black tended to get somber and washed me out. The reception called for a livelier appearance!
I’m telling you, MAC Ruby Woo won’t quit your mouth!
I took these photos after the reception, so the makeup is not exactly n its most stellar shape. Nonetheless I wanted to take a photo in decent lighting.
PS. No retouching but the lipstick! (Unfortunately without a mirror, hence, the uneven edges-ack!)
Lastly, if you care to know, I’m wearing a leotard/unitard from Landmark, stainless steel belt (which I asked to be made to my specifications/design), and gray booties from Zara. The orange rice-sack purse I was carrying is from Cambodia.
Thanks for reading, this turned out longer than I intended. But that’s about it, until the next party!
the San San eyeshadow works great as bronzer, too. cheapie but goodie talaga.
Ah really! Haven’t tried, but since I’ll be doing a review, try ko na rin! 🙂
