I hope everyone had a nice, cozy, Christmas? Mine was quiet, and a bit different as this is my first Christmas as a wife..coming from a sort of big, rowdy family, I did feel a touch lonely. Oh well, next Christmas will be better—new kinds of fun and traditions are to be made, for sure!
Anyway, for the third part of the Holiday/Party Series, here are your deets:
SCENARIO: Definitely, a formal dinner/after-dinner engagement at a snazzy place—a hotel, a bar, a happening restaurant. Might be the countdown party for the new year! Thus, you want to be equally hap-pe-ning as well. This may be one of the few times you’d actually not want to look effortless!
LOOK LEVEL: Given that you want to put yourself out there, you’d want to look obvious. Having a single focal point to your look would be wise—it would instantly anchor your look and draw welcome attention. Say, as in this look, a statement eye: a bit smoky, a bit of a cat-eye and bits of sparkle!
Prep: Slather moisturizer and leave to set, foundation will be applied after eye makeup.
Step 1: Using a dabbing motion, apply gel/cream eyeshadow (I’m using Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Illusoire) on the lids blending all the way up to the crease.
Step 2: When the cream sets, apply a medium brown eye shadow (Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes) on the outer corner crease corner, connecting to the upper lash line. Blend the edges further using a clean brush.
Step 3: Using an eyeliner brush, apply a matte black shadow (MAC Carbon) on the outer half of the upper and lower lash lines. Blend and extend outwards, making a slightly cat-eye shape. Remember to keep blending with a clean brush to avoid harsh edges.
Step 4: Using a black, waterproof liner (Maybelline Crayon Liner), line the waterline generously all around. Smudge with the a bit of the matte black eye shadow.
Step 5: Curl lashes, apply multiple coats of mascara (Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On) on the upper and lower lashes. Lightly brush brows in place with a brown eyebrow mascara (Animal Farm Eyebrow Mascara).
Step 6: Clean area around the eye and brush away any product fall out. Apply foundation (Lancôme Teint Miracle in O-025) mainly on the center of the face extending outwards. Conceal spots if needed. Blend, blend, blend then brush on some powder to set.
Take a matte bronzer to contour hollows of the cheeks extending towards the temple. Swipe on highlighting powder on tops of cheeks, nose bridge, cupid’s bow (Sleek Face Contour Kit).
Step 7: Line lips with a nude lip liner (MAC Subculture) and fill in with lip concealer (Canmake Lip Concealer), dabbing well outside the lip area to further conceal around the lips. Apply nude lipstick (Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Undressed).
I do apologize for the gold-ness/yellowness of my photos. I know it messes with the colors but I hope the how-to gets to you somehow!
Also, don’t forget to powder/apply foundation on your neck too!
