On O.P.I.’s Shatter Polish and Chemical Wonders
I have been so very busy with work and filial duties that I missed blogging about a LOT of stuff! But first thing first: Early this week, my sister had me try O.P.I.’s Shatter Polish in Black Shatter which is impossible to get a hold of! (Well, at least here.)
The text inside the reads:
“Apply one coat of Black Shatter over any completely dry Katy shade for an irresistible “shattered” look.”
I applied 2 coat of Essie’s Fiesta (sorry, Katy!), waited for it to completely dry, before applying Black Shatter and 3 coats of Essie’s To Dry For topcoat.
The Shatter’s texture is quite dry–much like dried up nail polish but worse, which is tricky to apply since it’s so different from applying regular lacquer. It won’t spread on its own and dries almost upon contact with the base color, but was amazing to see the instantaneous shattering effect!
Its top two ingredients, Ethyl Acetate and Butyl Acetate are known solvents, while the third, Nitrocellulose, can be a type of lacquer used as finishing paints for guitars and is known to crack over time. Mystery solved! Well, sort of.

An Artechoke Hearts/Farts: Hearts! I had a blast showing it around my peers who are just as amused. I can put it on top of every nail polish I have in my basket! (Hehe, not really.) It is tricky to apply, so be warned. You need to be quick and confident in making the strokes, but anyhow it’s fun even if you mess around as it’ll shatter anyway. I love, love how campy it looks, how very Memphis! So like any good product (or anything else for that matter), O.P.I.’s Shatter is meant to be enjoyed. And that I did. Tryyyy!!
Lastly, I’d like to thank The Nail Lounge for furnishing me with the materials for review.
